Apartment Share Available June 1st. - HUGE loft-like apartment.
by sundaegirl (sundaegirl)
at May 1st, 2007 (10:51 am)
current location: brooklyn, ny

I'm moving out of my apartment by June 1st and my two roommates will need someone to replace me! It's a HUGE apartment right across the street from Pratt (corner of Willoughby and Classon).
You'll share with one guy, 25, who does freelance work and a girl, 28, who is grad student at Pratt.
I believe the room will be $703. (Email my roomie to confirm) It's a big room. I have a queen size bed in there with two bookcases and two small chests of drawers. It's got a huge closet and big windows.
The kitchen is so big it has two sinks. The living room has two couches in it and it is still spacious. There are also two bathrooms. The male roommate has his own bathroom and the person who is moving in will share the 2nd bathroom with the female. (She is very nice, respectful, and clean.) There is even an extra storage closet which is the size of a small bedroom!
It's a great apartment. I'm simply moving out because I found my own place.
Elevator building ... 4th floor apartment ... Super is very helpful ... hardwood floors ... etc.
Available June 1st. The lease is up in August and you will have the opportunity to stay longer, if you wish.

Email J.R. (the guy) to view this apartment if you're interested. jrwilheim@yahoo.com

cheap and easy red chard recipe
by bob newhart (bobnewhartsays)
at February 28th, 2007 (11:35 pm)

i made this tonight with red chard from the green market ($3 for a bunch = one meal!)

1 bunch red chard

a bit of garlic pepper, seasoned salt, black pepper

about three or four tablespoons of cheap wine (red or pink)

two or three tablespoons of soy sauce

a tablespoon of olive oil

vegan bacon bits (i used stuff i got at associated in the spice aisle for 99 cents)

sautee the red chard in olive oil for a bit (tip: put the ends in first and then add the leaves a few minutes later to cook evenly)

add the wine, then the soy sauce and then the spices. simmer 5-8 minutes

lastly add the bacon bits. simmer for a few minutes after adding this to let the bacon smell get into the veggies. don't cook for too much long after though, or it will get mushy.

Pom Promises to Stop Animal Testing.

Activists force POM to stop animal testing

CANOGA PARK, Calif., Jan. 18 (UPI) -- U.S. animal rights activists took credit for forcing juice manufacturer POM Wonderful to halt testing of its products on animals.

The North American Animal Liberation Press Office called it "an unmitigated victory for animal activists," who had been waging a campaign against POM to protest its alleged experiments that involved baby mice and rabbits to show the health benefits of its pomegranate juices.

The campaign included protesting at the home of Stewart Resnick, owners of POM's parent company Roll International.

According to NAALPO, Resnick issued a statement Wednesday to POM retailers saying, ""POM Wonderful pomegranate juice has ceased all animal testing and we have no plans to do so in the future."

The announcement came hours after Whole Foods Markets said it would stop selling POM's products if the company did not cease animal testing.

Thai Tofu vegetable soup!
at October 18th, 2006 (05:30 pm)

I was reading vegancooking and there's an entry about a soup that may have healing properties! Since we are well into fall and the weather is (sometimes) chilly I thought it best to post the link to her recipe because it sounds pretty awesome, especially this time of year.

And here it is!

Fast Vegan Cake (given to me by my old roommate)

1 box of betty crocker cake mix
1 can of soda (my favorite is cherry 7 up)

mix together until smooth. it will look a little thin.

you have to bake it for a little longer than the box says, (like 40 minutes) and it comes out moist and tasty
